Be transported back in time when you stay at this countryside palace dating back to 1861—a small countryside palace standing on a 20-acre estate in the quaint town of Eugenie les Bains.

The 75 rooms and suites showcase a classic French décor with fruitwood floor tiles and terraces overlooking the gardens. Select suites feature canopy beds, fireplaces, marble bathtubs, and exquisite 3 Michelin Star cuisine.

We stayed in the Convent in a double room deluxe, a spacious suite with a separate bedroom, sitting room, and outdoor garden patio featuring a bistro table and lounge seats. The room featured a mini-bar, a complimentary water pitcher refilled daily, bathrobes, slippers and exclusive eco-friendly amenities, organic coffee and herbal infusions, a fireplace stove, air conditioning, a spacious bathroom with a soaking tub, and room service.

A bit of history...

Eugénie’s History begins in 1861, when Empress Eugénie, the wife of Napoleon III, decided to grant her sponsorship to this small thermal station on the outskirts of the Landes and Béarn regions. A few years before, she had sojourned there for a stopover on her way to her summer quarters in Biarritz.

The arrival of Chef Michel Guérard, the founding father of "Nouvelle Cuisine," in 1972 brought the hotel international acclaim. It has been a Relais & Châteaux property since 1966, and as of July 2017, it has also been designated a Palace of France. The hotel features 75 rooms and suites spread across the estate, divided between the main house and the gardens.

Les Prés d'Eugénie is a true passion project of the Guérard family—a temple of fine living where the impeccable taste of Chef Guérard and his late wife, Christine, is evident in every detail. From the family's art collection adorning the rooms to the embossed stationery, every aspect reflects their discerning style. This is undoubtedly a family-run hotel, offering a warm atmosphere that is further enhanced by the gardens and fountains within its 40-acre estate.

Another standout feature of the hotel is the exceptional Ferme Thermale Spa, which utilizes water from hot springs that have existed for over 18,000 years. The dining options are equally impressive; Michel Guérard’s gourmet restaurant boasts three Michelin stars, offering a menu that celebrates French culinary tradition. In contrast, the more casual La Ferme aux Grives immerses diners in a medieval inn atmosphere, complete with a large fireplace where poultry and suckling pigs are roasted to perfection.
